چکیده

Recently different experiments mention to have observed a large scale cosmic-ray anisotropy at TeV energies, e.g. Milagro, Tibet and SuperKamiokande. For these energies the cosmic-rays are expected to be nearly isotropic. Any measurements of cosmic-rays anisotropy could bring some information about propagation and origin of cosmic-rays. Though the primary aim of the ANTARES neutrino telescope is the detection of high energy cosmic neutrinos, the detector measures mainly down-doing muons, which are decay products of cosmic-rays collisions in the Earth’s atmosphere. This proceeding describes an anlaysis method for the first year measurement of down-going atmospheric muons at TeV energies in the ANTARES experiment, when five out of the final number of twelve lines were taking data.

Design and expected performance of the ANTARES neutrino telescope

The ANTARES Collaboration is aiming at the construction and the operation of a large undersea neutrino telescope for neutrino astronomy, neutrino oscillation and indirect dark matter searches. An intensive R&D program, which started 3 years ago, has shown the feasibility of such a detector in the deep waters of the Mediterranean sea. We have now started the design and the construction of a 0.1 ...

neutrino telescope

The ANTARES collaboration is building a deep underwater neutrino Cerenkov telescope at 2400 m which will be located off the Mediterranean sea coast near Toulon, France. The main scientific aims of the experiment are the detection of high energy upgoing muons coming from astrophysical neutrinos, indirect dark matter searches, the study of atmospheric neutrino oscillations. The detector will be c...

The ANTARES Neutrino Telescope

The ANTARES underwater neutrino telescope, at a depth of 2475 m in the Mediterranean Sea, near Toulon, is taking data in its final configuration of 12 detection lines. Each line is equipped with 75 photomultipliers (PMT) housed in glass pressure spheres arranged in 25 triplets at depths between 100 and 450 m above the sea floor. The PMTs look down at 45 to have better sensitivity to the Cherenk...

ANTARES sensitivity to steady cosmic gamma ray sources

Amongst the atmospheric muons recorded by neutrino telescopes are muons produced by the interaction of cosmic gamma rays with the Earth’s atmosphere. Although they are not numerous, it has been suggested that such muons could be distinguished by neutrino telescopes from the isotropic background by correlating their direction with known sources of gamma rays. The ANTARES neutrino telescope is ta...

The ANTARES deep-sea neutrino telescope comprises a three-dimensional array of photomultipliers to detect the Cherenkov light induced by upgoing relativistic charged particles originating from neutrino interactions in the vicinity of the detector. The large scattering length of light in the deep sea facilitates an angular resolution of a few tenths of a degree for neutrino energies exceeding 10...
